There is a prominent infatuation with New Zealand’s native bird life and scenery in Janine’s paintings. Not only is this prevalent in her use of subject, but also in choice of colour and composition.

The viewpoint offered to us provides distance and intimacy in the one frame. Iconic NZ cliff faces and country green hills sit afar, being peered at through lush bush at close proximity. This gives Janine’s paintings an interactive quality, the viewer drawn in to the fantastical notion they are indulging in a sightseeing walk.

Her use of colour is accentuated ; blues and reds intensified lifting the temperature of the work. This warmly presence positions Janine’s paintings to bring vigour to any given interior.
